: I am trying to start a catering business. I am a CIA graduate. I want to do this the right way but dont have the backing to buy a resturant. I wanted to know if there is places to rent kitchens and to store food. I live in long island and want to base the company here.

Try your local Temple, KofC, VWF or the like. If they are not doing functions they probably have a kitchen available for a reasonable amount of $. also watch Newdsay for rental space.

That said as someone that ran a catering business on LI let me warn you- You have to be legal, you have to be insured, you need a lawyer to write your contracts, there is more established competition that you would believe, the customer base is cheep and shrewd.

There is whole lot of money on LI but the way they got it was by holding on to it. It was great in the 80's but that is long gone.

I'd suggest either working for someone or looking into Personal Chefing.

All the Best,

George
