Hi,wanting to start my own off-premise catering business. I have 5 years experience working part time with an off-premise caterer. Also writing out a business plan with the help of our University's Small Business Development Center. By the time I am finished with my plan, I will be legal, (licensed, insured, home permit, food handlers, commerical kitchen to work from). I am in the process of working on my marketing strategy, and need to put together a 12 month promotion plan. My question: Since I am an unknown, what would be my most effective marketing tactic to take to get my business out to the public? I need some direction from professionals here, and maybe not be so confused on this. I believe I will need to take out a small business loan, just to market my new business, therefore money may not be a problem. Also, I am pricing my menu for a brochure. I understand how to find the exact cost of each dish per serving, but I will have 65 different items on this brochure. Do I need to find each dish exact cost? Do I then put the smallest amount to the highest amount on each category, (as in the dessert category)? I would appreciate any information that anyone would share. Thank you, Connie Seglem
