: : I hired a caterer to provide food for a buffet in my home. My paperwork says "price does not include gratuity." Do I tip him eventhough he is the owner of the business? How much do I tip? Someone please help ASAP!!! Thanks!

: Hi,
: As an owner of a small catering company, I do everything from setting up parties to promoting the company to washing peoples dishes & floor. As an owner, if I'm weredoing a big catered event and the customer wanted to tip, I tell them that it's up to the indivdual. I think that it is a nice thing to do, because you are doing service to somebody. Just my thoughts.

Hi, I'm one of the owners of a mid sized catering firm (mid 6 figure income), as your caterer did, we stamp each invoice with, gratuities are not included or required, but appreciated by the staff. We divide the gratuity between all who worked the actual event on site, from set up/knock down personel, dishwashers, utility, kitchen, bartenders & service staff, including myself or my partner, if we work on site...it is the fairest way that I have found.....sam sears, cec
