Tea parties are an afternoon light lunch for ladies. Brunch is before noon, a tea is after noon. The English have "tea" everyday at 2pm sharp. These parties are very popular in the south, gives ladies an excuse to catch up on gossip !!
Serve light little sandwitches, like cucumber, or chicken salad, and maybe deviled eggs, and stuffed celery, and asparagus with some kinda sauce for dipping. Also, baby mozzarella, roma tomato, and fresh basil are a good sandwitch. I get really fancy with the sandwitches, cut them in 4 triangles, dip one side in sesame seeds and arrange on a plate, with the seed side up. looks neat like that. Have some good cheese, like a brie wheel with honey and pecans on the top. About the salad, I do endive leaves stuffed with something. A fruit salad with poppy seed dressing is good. Have lots of little pick up desserts, and scons of course, and I make a berry triffle, something with fresh berries is good. Serve the hot tea on a seperate table, have a selection of 3-5 kinds, like English breakfast tea, Darjeeling, and Earl Gray, make it fresh and serve cream, milk and sugar, lots of people drink there tea with cream or milk in it, like the english..I also serve a punch of some kind. I throw these all the time,e-mail me if you need more help. Hope it goes well, good luck, Jolly...
