: I, presently ran a catering biz in S'pore and have been constantly looking at different ways of being different from my competitors.Anyone like an exchange of ideas?
WE ALL WISH TO EXCHANGE IDEAS, THAT IS THE POINT OF THE FORUM!
now what is your specific question?
allow me to talk about being different
i would suggest you first identify who is your competitors first, then find out what they are doing. i am different from my competition because i always finish a table... no matter how low budget the event is.... even if i have to throw in some items (believe me, i let them know it by putting it on the invoice with the price, then marking it "no charge")
i also take the time to really talk to and listen to my callers, many times, i give them great advice on how to do it themselves, or even have talked them out of doing as much as they wanted because i felt it to be unnecessary....
such as those who have an anniversary reception at 2 pm on a Sunday who think they need heavy hors d'ouevres, i tell them stick with punch, cake and mints....and give them the number of a good baker, and give them a great punch recipe.
what has happened is they are so impressed by my concern for them, they go out of their way to help me get big jobs and tell all their friends.....
hope this helps
cheers
