: I work at a golf course and we put everything on the members' account.
: My employer calls the amount I make off of what I sell the gratuity.
: Which I only get 8% of what I sell. The members ask me if tips are
: included, and i tell them they are because that's what I've been told.
: I'm a little confused right now because my boss calls it gratuity, and
: then on the reciepts, it's called service charge. Should I be getting more?
: Should I tell them tips are included? Should I get more than 8% or can
: I not do anything about it?
: I need answers, I'm new at this tip stuff.

Do they charge an 8% service charge? or more? If they call it a service charge, they
can give you any percentage of it or none, as long as you are earning
minimum wage or above.... if they call it gratuity, they must give you (and any other service providers)
all of it..(which is why they call it a service charge) again, they are not required to
give you any of a service charge....
and you are not REQUIRED to work there... if you accept the wage policies, then
so be it, if it is not enough, then you may should look elsewhere.

Good luck....

Carl
