Working for someone is a lot different than being your own boss!
Only 5% of the populous have leadership qualities.

IT IS PARAMOUNT TO GET FORMAL EDUCATION IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT.(if you want to open a chip truck or a fine dining resturant), as well as a knowledge in the field.

If you have read these forums, there is a lot of talk about-long hours, little pay. Try extra long hours, no pay, sleeping with pen and paper on the night stand, broken equipment needs repaired or replaced (back to the bank or the almost exhausted savings account). Staff not showing up. Out to dinner with friends- have to leave because a problem needs attention. Go on vacation- bring books to update.I could go on and on.

Then, just when you are ready to take a nice wage for yourself, upgrade the dining room, new equipment, new signage.......

I have owned my own business (4) since 1973. I have paid the price for success as many owner-operators have.

I am the president of my company and I am also the janitor!
I take course after course to refresh my business sense. I went to Disney World, what do you think I did? I counted cars, buses, etc. to see how many and how much the parking lot brought in! I go to Atlantic City and count customers going into the seafood buffet, how many, how often, why? I have business on my mind, always. I want to know how I can make my business better, so I take what I want from successful operations.

Business is very demanding. You can't just quit and find another job. BUT, I love it. The customers, the respect, the power, the product, and, yes, the money (finally)!!!!!
