: Brandon - I am a 11th grade high school student and I want to be a chef, and I plan to work at this for a long time.

: First you must ask yourself a few simple questions

: A)do you love cooking or do you enjoy it yes
: B) is food and the restaurant/hospitality what you really want to do yes
: c)you ready to spend countless hours in a hot kitchen or standing in a restaurant/hotel waiting on customers yes
: d)is this really want you want? yes

: After answering these questions honestly I hope you will make a good choice.

: I personally attendend the CIA and have a double degree from them an AOS and BPS and found that it was probably the biggest waste of money for me as well as the people that paid for it. (And NO they don't turn away cash customers!!) even if you can't make the grade.

: I found that both the admissions dept. and job placement department, promised a lot that they could not uphold, If you just want to be a chef and thats all you want to do is cook for the rest of your life then they do an ok job, but if you want to do something else i.e. hotel management, catering/sales they truly SUCK ad their jobs. I told them when I went in there that, I wanted to get in to catering and sales (more front of the house stuff) and lots of promises made or implied, and when it came time to start finding jobs. "So you want to be a chef, I have a good line cook job here for you, you wanna live in NY City.." I think not!! If you want to stay on the east coast and only work on the east coast after you graduate then maybe it is right for you, because that is the only place they focus on job placement.

: I found the administration to be put up on a throne and that the people paying the bills to be the little ones at the feet amd mercy of not only them but the chefs, I will always remember the day I was walking down the stairway in Roth hall and done came MR. Ryan I said hello, he turned his head, looked at the wall and kept moving, now thats professional!!

: Well I will continue this some other time, But please ask yourself is this really what I want to do for the rest of my life, and don't try to move west after you graduate because it will take you know place

: DLG
