For making a tiered basket weave design, does one pipe the weave before or after stacking? A prompt response would be much appreciated as the cake is for this friday afternoon. Thanx.

You could do it either way...
I find it easier to pipe each individually then stack it; you don't have to worry with hitting the other layers while holding a piping bag then.
