We are trying to figure out the best system for managing production in our small cake bakery. In our bread production we use excel spreadsheets for each days mixing, shaping and baking shifts. We create our spreadsheets 48 hours before the day of sale so we can begin mixing our starter doughs. Cake production is obviously on a different schedule, but I thought we could customize our current system for cakes.
I was wondering what other cake bakers use to manage their daily production. Are software programs like Sweetware or Datapax popular? Has anyone else created their own custom spreadsheets?
