I just got forced out of an executive chef's posisition by an ass of an f&b director. It was a job I excelled at and loved for 5 years. I have moved on to much bigger and better things but it still pi**es me off. Has anyone else out there had the same experience? and what did you do about it? Re: "is it time to quit"

Way too many times!!. The chef leaves or gets fired, a new chef comes on, doesn't know you and wants to bring their own people in, and out you go. God help you if you're smarter than your boss because you become a threat, a liability, instead of the asset you should be treated as. Just remember that every thing happens for a reason and nine times out of ten you wind up better off. And as hard as it seems, we really need to do the right thing because it's the right thing to do, and maybe, this is a big maybe, we might even be able to change the way things in this business. It's a dream, but a pleasant one. Good luck in your new position.

Get used to it!!! It is part of the business.
As a Chef when you go you take the people you want w/ you, it's the same w/ F & Bs and GMs...etc.
It's not right, fair, whatever you want to call it but it's a fact; unless you own a piece of the action, the owner loves you or, you love the owner's daughter/son.
