By Snuffaluff (Snuffaluff) on Friday, November 15, 2002 - 11:44 am: Edit

lol... do you have xp pro, or the home edition? If you have the home edition, that's your problem. *8)

By Corey (Corey) on Friday, November 15, 2002 - 09:20 pm: Edit

home edition, but actually it was the web server not XP that was the problem, I use Sambar Server and it don't appear to like Xp too much. so it goes offline without a message or anything and the only way to check it is look for it's process once and a while. I emailed the author and he is going to look into it soon.

Why is XP like Beatleguese?

As his supervisor says in the movie.

"He does not work well with others"

By Corey (Corey) on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 - 08:06 pm: Edit

hell, it hardly works by itself...
but, on a OEM computer, I have to use what they gave me for the warranty period.

only Mac I want comes on a bun with cheese and secret sauce.

By Cheftim (Cheftim) on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 - 12:49 am: Edit

Yuk, maybe I should have said, "Real men don't eat Big Macs."

By Kinglear (Kinglear) on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 - 08:39 am: Edit

Yeah, you guys sit there and eat your Big Macs while your Windows #whatever reboots after the upteenth crash...
Meanwhile, I'll be surfing at LIGHT-SPEED!, MAC WARP 10!

By George (George) on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 - 01:07 pm: Edit

I surf at light speed with my XP laptop and cable modem. Crashes are few and far between and normally the result of too many processes running at the same time.

That said I do wish I had a mac for graphics work.

Big Macs are garbage and really should be required to have health warnings on them.

LINUX!!! XP?? You nut! Running a server from a home conection (I am fishing here of course) can be fun, but thinking that microsoft will play nice nice as far as serving pages is pure fantasy.

I downloaded free copies of a great linux version that was full installed, and serving pages in about 30 minutes.

THAT WAS A FULL SYSTEM INSTALL!!! Yes including fromating the drive, installing the software, and setting it up to serve pages. You can also use and older machine, and get better speed, and stability that ANY microsoft product will offer you..

I used mandrake linux 9.0, and installed it on my SECOND drive, so my windows installation is untouched. Other great free software awaits, just do a search.
