Here is a good example of bad interview ettiquette. We are in the process of hiring servers this week. My boss, who is the owner of the restaurant had an 11:00am interview with a nice clean-cut looking, twentysomething guy today. I interrupted the interview to let my boss know about an important call he was expecting. As he asked the gentleman to wait a few minutes he offered to buy him a drink(the interview was taking place in the tavern). He was expecting him to get an iced tea or a coke, but when he returned the guy had a Corona in front of him. My boss immediately cut the interview short, told him he would call, and then crumpled up his application once around the corner. Now a Corona is not as bad as lunchtime Jack Daniels on the rocks, but in an interview booze is booze and it showed enough poor judgement for him to lose his chance at a job.

Hey, the guy could of been interviewing for a pilot's job!!!!!!....but for a server?????
I don't think I know any servers that don't drink!!!!

OK so the boss did not get the interviewee the drink, he just said help yourself and the guy picked a beer? Whether or not the guy drinks or not grabbing a Corona during an interview is bad form. Once you're hired, then booze it up--elsewhere--to celebrate maybe, but not while you're just trying to get your foot in the door.

i still love it.
when i interview, i tell them right off the bat, keep the hell out of my shop.
i hire my own people.
everything else is up for discussion.
you should see the looks on their faces.
lol

ah...you know, some find it funny, some show me the door.
it all works out.
i'm too old to worry about any of that now.
i'm how i am.
i like it.
but i will say, there have been a lot of places that just let me be me.
thats always nice.

I have a job for that guy, if he's willing to work for beer.....

& NO, not work to get paid & STEAL beer from our fridge, like I caught 1 guy doing... Dude ripped me off for chicken, burger meat & bread, too, then had the bawlz to brag about the BBQ party he had over the weekend, afterward.

Stopped happening PDQ, after I put locks on my basement fridge... But the unmistakeable 'clank clank' of Sammies in his poggit gave him away, when Frog kept any upstairs...

Unless the guy was interviewing in Japan, (or whatever time zone).... No credit for brains.
Cha-ching!
Fritz
