Why is it that in James Bond movies the bad guy has people who will maim, murder,or drive a snowmobile off a cliff and I can't get a dishwasher to show up to work?

One interesting but overlooked thing about dishwashers-
In a white tablecloth restaurant they handle more of your money that a manger does!
Figure what your glassware, silver, cups, plates, etc cost and then multiple that by the number of turns you do in a meal period, you'll see they really do handle a lot of $$$.\

Give the dishwasher a raise, some praise, make sure he/she knows that they are a valuable part of the team. So many holier-than-thou individuals in the culinary field underestimate the value of capable dishwashers/buspersons.
Ages ago I worked as a server in an Italian restaurant in Richmond. My employer called me in one day and asked why/how I managed to sell so much more than the other servers. I told him I upsell everything, and I tip the bussers. He said, "Tip the bussers? Why would you do that?" He was amazed. No one had ever tipped the busboys, so why should I tip them? ... they were only high-school kids with afterschool jobs making 4 bucks an hour.

Turnover, doofus. I praised the busboys and always asked about school and family and really cared about them. Plus I tipped. Guess whose tables were always first to be bussed and reset? Yep. Higher turnover, higher sales, more tips.
James and Durell helped me pay my tuition for my masters degree. I wonder what they are doing now? I hope they educated themselves, got married to wonderful caring women and are raising great kids like themselves and instilling them with a good work ethic and good values. Thanks guys.
