I noticed that nobody responded to you. Sorry about that, I'll write myself a note and bring one home.

I offered my recipe along time ago.....for white cake not a sponge or a geniose or anything else...just white cake (what my customers in the mid-west like)I use a mix (it's moister, cuts better and lasts longer). That's what started a war with Gerard and everyone, so I figured I keep quite for once.

DeBord,
Was that in the "old" bakers dozen? Saw there were a couple on Martha's website. Thanks in advance Panini.

?????????? I'm sorry I don't follow you..."Saw there were a couple on Martha's website." Did you see recipes involving mixes there? I haven't ever seen those and I enjoy looking thru her stuff. Where did you see this?
The "old" bakers dozen was closed before I ever found this site.
Panini are you sec?

Sorry, not mixes, scratch recipes. Old Fashioned Vanilla Icebox Cake - giant cake! Did find one I liked (for white cake):
1/2 cup butter
1-2/3 cups sugar
2-1/2 cups cake flour (sift before measuring)
1/4 tsp. salt
1-1/4 cups cold H20
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
4 egg whites
Cream butter/sugar. Add flour/salt alternately with H20. Add vanilla. Beat whites until frothy, add bp slowly, beat until stiff. Fold into batter. 2 - 8" pans. 350 degrees
