i grew up eating these cookies called black and whites in nj. then moved to tx and not only can i not find them here but i can not find a good recipe that taste right. this little bakery in nj was called the cake box andd they where the best. i have a very big party to cater and they asked for them, can any one please help?

are they just sugar dough?
thats what some of the europeans made them from that I worked with.
Plain sugar dough for the light side...and...sugar dough with cocoa added to it for the dark side.(add a couple more eggs)
I'll look and see if theres another recipe that I may be forgetting.

I grew up in NJ as well and loved those cookies. I got a real craving for them a couple of months ago and looked on the internet for a recipe. I tried one from Zabars and they looked great but didn't taste anything close to the ones I used to get.

We made a dry white cake batter to make the cookie, then royal icing on one side and a thin ganache on the other.
