If you would kindly provide input or recommend a book or resource with information on legal/regulatory requirements of opening a new bakery in the US (specifically PA if this is helpful), such as:
- License
- Permits
- Zoning
- Blue Printing
- Health Code
- Fire Code
- others
Thank you!

All of these issues can change on a county or even city level.
The best thing to do would be to pick area and contact the individual departments, and don't be surprised if different departments give conflicting information.
Good luck!

Just what I wanted to hear! ;-)
Are there specific departments or offices that you would suggest I start inquiring?

Local chamber of commerce....they would have some good info on how to get started. Small business department at local college could broaden that info. City, and county health, environmental health, planning and development, tax department, register of deeds........and pick a good lawyer schooled in business law. All these will be listed in the white pages of the location you want to set up shop in. Start calling. Will be a bit of leg work and as George said can be confusing but the best way to get info is to call those departments in the location of choice. Get crackin and good luck.

If I am buying/leasing a commercial real estate space that was already being used as a bakery, what are some of the documents that I should expect from the prior business owner? Such as blueprint, etc.
