William Sonoma included a (I don't recall if they included the word "creme") brulee cheesecake recipe with it's mini cheesecake pans in their catalog (awhile ago). It was a regular plain cheesecake with carmelized sugar on top. I thought it was interesting enough to reproduce it and searched thru many cookbooks to find other examples but didn't find any.
To the best of my understanding you can call anything brulee if it has carmelized sugar on top, but I've never seen the words "creme brulee" used together unless it was just that.
Anyway to make a short story long, I used my own recipe for cheesecake and carmelized it. But to tell you the truth I didn't like the sugar on top of the cheesecake.
I hope I was somewhat helpful??? :)

Try www.godiva.com. go under recipies and try to find the chocolate creme brule cheescake. It is a wonderful cake and easy to make.
