I am making marzipan insects ( lady bugs, ants, catapillars, bees ect.. ) for a birthday cake. I noticed that in " The Cake bible" she metions using gelitan sheets for the wings on her bees. Do you make or buy these?
TIA

You buy them. Most pastry wholesalers carry it.

Toots when I first starting doing bees I used gelatin sheets. I found it to be a pain cutting them, then everyone thought it was plastic. Now I use sliced almonds, it's easier and people understand it's edible.
Just a thought...

W,
Thanks, I think I will give Almond slices a try, I just wanted them to look as realistic as possible. But if it will save me the headache, then I think, almonds will be it.
Thanks
Amy
