: Hi! I was wondering if anybody can give me a recipe for a different type of waffle. I am looking for a waffle that used to sell in Hong Kong; it is a waffle that is chewy and perhaps a little tough. Most of the recipes I find make fluffy waffles. It there some kind of ingredient or something I can do to a waffle recipe to produce a chewy texture? Thanks a lot for your help!

Do you mean the type that is sold on the streets as a sweet? Like what I would get in Chinatown NYC? The nearest to it that i ahve found is a recipe for waffle cookies:2/3 cup butter melted, 3 large eggs, 1/4 cup sugar. 1tbsp vanilla, 1 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder. Combine first 4 ingredients then add nest 2 until smooth. I use a heart shaped waffle iron. Bake until golden. Quickly remove, cut into hearts and let cool 2 hours. Dust with confestioners sugar and try to eat just one.
