: We got a review yesterday in the local newspaper. It's not perfect, but it never is, some of the mistakes were ours, some were the reviewer's. (We don't have a piece of pita bread in the building, and I know I served her tortilla chips because I baked them myself.)

: Still, it's a pretty good review. We were slammed last night and now it's Valentine's Day and I've got to go down there and try to recover.

: Here's the site.

: I'll try to link it, but for some reason I can never make that work.

Karen,
The review itself was written quite ordinarily. Since the reviewer was not able to tell the difference between a corn tortilla and a pita bread most of her "culinary" critiques stand without foundation. She used a very small vocabulary, threw in cliches I have seen used by these types for years and in the end seems to have produced a very elementary, plain piece of journalism. As to her boast about the food being at a level that one could prepare at home, I am certain she would not know where to begin to reproduce any of your dishes if you did not help her.
On the other hand your restaurant certainly stands out as obviously an expression of you and your experiences and a place where many professionasl obviously would like to dine.
If the review ever starts to get you, remember these words from an early, great American.........Ralph Waldo Emerson who wrote, "What lies before us, and what lies behind us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us

Good luck and I remain.........

Culinarily Yours,
Chef Mars of the Caribbean
