Its an acquired taste, like root beer...which tastes like toothpaste.
My auntie used to send us candy from Canada when I was growing up in England, we wondered what the heck do they eat over there?
Gooseberries are inedible ,as is rhubarb unless you know how to prepare it and what it accompanies.
Gooseberry pie is quite good, rhubarb crumble too.
All said and done, I don't think treacle anything makes for good dessert in fine dining,even though I like it, its an interesting thought though as I'd never considered it.
But , thats why they have menu's.
I hear next months Gourmet ragazine features treacle tart on the cover.
