: Need cooking thermometer with temp. range of 115-212 degrees. Metal stem needs to be 6-7 inches long and able to fit through the spout of a French press coffee pot with the lid on. Brand name and how to purchase, please. Email directly. Thank you, Irene

Irene,
Insta-read Pocket Thermometers are available in most household stores, K-Marts, Walmarts etc. Taylor is a good brand. Your range will probably be up to 250F.
No need to get a digital one, too fragile and expensive.
The thermometer should not cost more than $20. Some Japanese, Chinese or Taiwan brands are cheaper.
They can be accurized in boiling water at sealevel or close to it. Should read 212F. If not, adjust the dial by holding stem right below dial with small plier and twist dial until it reads 212F. Need not to be a master mechanic to do that.
Sincerely,
HWK, CMC
