No, Francois, I have not, but would not be surprised. I lived 4 years in Portland, OR and it is Gods country, no doubt about that. Excellent wines, especially Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, rivaling, if not exceeding, the quality of Burgundy vineyards. Wild mushrooms and berries galore. The freshest seafood, the best bayshrimp in the universe. People that care about sustainable agriculture and ecology. Hippie heaven. Still hope they gave up eating frozen halibut in preference of heavenly fresh (not like the imposter from Santa Barbara) Unfortunately, they are also chauvinistic to the extreme (much like the Bourgogne), as long as you were not born there, you are a Goddamn Foreigner, does not matter where you come from, as long as it is not Oregon.
This brings with it a fiercely protective attitude of all that is "Homegrown", no matter the quality. A heaven for charlatans who play into the hands of the chauvinists.
Barnum was right and it still hurts today. Maybe people, who elect, in a landslide, a president who lit up, but didn't inhale, deserve the consequences!? More power to those who are happiest when not handed the jar of ubiquitous Vaseline.
