British wedding cakesPosted by Laura on January 11, 1999 at 23:19:41:
Please help. I am marrying an Englishman in Texas next October and I need to find either a recipe or a bakery that can supply a traditional British wedding cake. "What is a British wedding cake" you ask? From what I can tell it's a heavy rum-soaked fruitcake (sans red and green stuff) with either royal or fondant icing. Apparently, the cakes take months to make (or cure) and the newlyweds keep the top layer until the Christening.
