We have just signed a similar contract with an Elks Lodge. Having previous experience catering from a hall operated by a club board, we know going in, there will be issues to discuss continually. Giving the members discounted prices sounds good, but I would suggest making a MEMBERS's ONLY Menu. That way, you are not ding-dong'd to death with quotes for this event and that event. Also, make sure your staff knows to really take care of things as these people treat their hall like they own it. When I say these people, I mean each member. Also, working with a club board is different from working with other boards. In our case, board members are elected to the position and volunteer. They serve out their term and someone else takes their place. So, things change over the years, depending on the board. Contract negotiations can become difficult if you have a difficult board. Remember, board members are not doing this as part of their business. In fact, some of them have, in our experience, no business experience at all. So educated decisions.....

: We are going to be writting a contract for complete sales, foodservice and on premis catering for a local Elks Lodge. Although, we have other public venues in which we have done this, I didn't know if there are any areas I should consider with a private club that would be different than in public. Other than offering discounted prices for member functions and answering to our assigned committee who will report to the board of directors are there any other areas I should be concerned with to include in this contract. Interested in hearing from any other caterers that may have such a contract. Thanks for the help Kevin
