Wow! Hans' sauce sounds great, George sure likes it. Here is another one using commercial BBQ sauce as a base:

Bourbon-Pecan BBQ Sauce

Sweat two onions (fine dice) in 1/2 pound butter
Add 1/2 pound chopped pecans and heat through
Deglaze with 1 pint good KY bourbon (Ancient Age is reasonable)
Add 1/2 gallon commercial BBQ (Cattleman's is ok)
Sweeten with dark brown sugar or better, Sorghum molasses
Add heat with Cayenne pepper
Simmer about an hour

Use it to finish chicken, shrimp, chops or as an alternative to bottled steak sauce.
