Sugar Art/Gum Paste Flowers

Does anyone out there have any hints on making sugar paste. I am new to the art and would like any help I can get. I bought a KitchenAid Mixer it is a 325 Watt. Is this powerful enough to make the Gum Paste? I am not starting or finishing a career, it is more of a theraphy for me. Thank you for any help you can give me.
