: I'm a wasteful perfectionist for scanning most images at 300 :dpi. Why is that so wasteful? Because it creates image files :which are larger than 40K (the best size for quick downloading) :or even 100K (stretching it, but still acceptable). Every byte :counts in a Web image, since one kilobyte takes about 1 second :to download -- assuming a 14.4 modem --

The reality for the web is the best resolution you can SEE is 75 dpi. Also the number of colors makes a big differnece. For the "gallery area" Im thinking about a set immage size with a gif picture (only 256 colors and then we get into the safe pallet thing) as the link and then a jpeg immage (16 mill colors) as the actual immage.

That said, just as important as the pictures, if not more so, is the written instructions (I'll do the html if needed) on how to product the item (maybe a rewiew pannel for the method, I'm not a baker, let alone a pastry chef)Pretty pictures of cakes can be found in several locations, but how to do them is what I'd be interersted in supporting.

:(Are you there, George? It's time to archive some of the older :stuff in "The Great Hall.")

Its way over due, but I just don't have the time to sort through it. Suggestions welcome.

BTW, I will put up a seperate forum for this kind of stuff, so we don't collect too much irrellevant (sp) info in the forums.

TTYL

George
