: Someone loves and appreciates you very much, Karen!

I still haven't figured out how to say "Thank you" properly. I wasn't expecting such a gift and I cried when I opened it.

: : I have Professional Baking by Gisslen but don't use it that often because the *huge* quantities aren't practical for a 24 seat restaurant.

: Excellent point. And nothing beats an intimate restaurant for food and atmosphere -- we should definitely come to dinner at your place on our next trip to Florida. How would you describe your cuisine and prices?

But it's a good reference. I do use it for some things, but I have a stack of "home" cookbooks I use for day to day stuff because they make more sense for what I do.

Foster's is in the Historic Five Points District of Jacksonville, Florida, just a few minutes from the city center. We're in a 1920's duplex. For lunch, we offer fresh salads, sandwiches, a few hot entrees. Prices are $4.75 to $6.50. Dinner is fairly eclectic, *mostly* with a Florida influence (you'll find chorizo and mangos and sweet potatoes on the menu, as well as fresh fish and a few vegetarian dishes). Prices range from $7.25 to $12.50 for dinner. I occasionally run a special for a little more. For the most part, it's unpretentious food. We keep it simple and the customers bring their own bottle of wine from the local wine shop. I'm in the kitchen all alone, so I can't get too crazy or I'll never keep up.

Karen
