: Try growing your own then. That is what I have done here in the Dominican Republic for the last 7 years. Compost the kitchen waste, buy great seed from “Ornamental Edibles” out in San Jose Calif. and do not use any insecticides. You could rent some land from the farmer and make sure it is done the way you want it to be. The farmer is only in for the money like all businessmen anyway. Organic and sustainable are the way because they are based on nature's immutable law of balance. Got to pay her dues or you gonna pay her price my friend.

Why worry. Fruits and vegetables are covered with wax, the reason to look eye appealing. Fruits are picked green . they don't ripen the natural way. Some fruits are gas flashed to ripen quicker, they don't taste the same. With thousands and thousands of restaurants just in this country they have to do something to produce millions of pounds of fruits and vegetables. Organic on my books is a joke unless you grow it yourselfYou pay more money for them, are they really organic?.Real organic vegetables and fruits have been around for long, long time. Free range chicken is just a way to make more money. Free range means free, chiickens eat what they want and not in a larger cage, their food is controlled. . Again why worry. we have no control over, these is the way it is and we heve to accept it other wise we have no products to cook and we don't have a job
