: : Karen,

: : They pay 21 days net.!
: : After printing up menus for them I realised it would be crazy.
: : So I offered them a 40% discount , COD and I'll deliver and set up.
: : They said thats not our policy. It makes me wonder who their previous caterer was and how much they might be owed.

: I have a friend who is a major player in catering in town - I do some pastries for her - she bills after the fact for parties. My guess is some people take eons to pay her. Not me! For this particular job I got a credit card number. I'll bring them the receipt to sign when I make the first delivery.

Three weeks ago I did a business catering (my first), but didn't think about the payment terms. My invoice said Due on Receipt. They still haven't paid, and when I called their A/P dept the voicemail message said, "You may leave a message, but with cutbacks to staff it will take us a minimum of 5 working days to get back to you." Ouch! I won't do that again.

I like the idea of the COD, but 40% discount? How would you price that so you aren't giving it away?
