Don't fret, I read in the paper they just identified the gene responsible for over-reaction allergies, seems the immune system has a gene that triggers reactions and they know which one it is.

The cake sounds correct with inflated sides, the ganache isn't that convoluted, just scald heavy cream, throw the choc in (chunks) and stir (off heat) til you have the right thickness, we add choc til its right, its not measured, sort of spreadable mud.
Use it right away before it goes cold. Once it goes cold the results after reheating are nowhere as good.
Put the semi frozen cake on the table and pour the ganache over, spread and cover with the spatula. DON'T try to get it perfect, just smooth the top then make sure sides are covered. Slide the spatula under it and place on serving plate.
Really a lot easier with cake frozen but you have to go quicker with the ganache as it sets almost on contact.
Slices thicker than 1/2 inch are excessive !
