: I'm taking the family to Kiawah Island in the middle of July and am looking for local Restaurant suggestions and the lowdown on the Kiawah Island Resort. Any info would be appreciated.

There are so many good places in Charleston, but also so many tourist traps. Number one on my list would be Magnolias, and its sister Blossom's both by Chef/owner Donald Barickman, one of the pioneers of Nuevo southern cuisine. Also in the news lately is SNOB (Slightly north of broad) another southern chef. I'm not sure where Louis Osteen is cooking these days, ask the chefs at the above places, they will know. Stop by, or maybe e-mail? Hoppin' John's Bookstore. Owner/author John Martin Taylor is the local expert on food, and knows everybody. The telephone number for the bookstore is (803) 577 6404. Sorry I don't know anything about the resorts, I prefer to stay at smaller places when I travel. Let us know what restaurants you visited when you get back. :-)Chef Bob
